Mumu’s Fermented Dish, Iniangliw/sour dumplings
Households In the indigenous community used to help out each other with the fieldwork. When the work came toward the end, the hosting family would soak millet or sticky rice in a pot to ferment to prepare for dumpling making. At the end of the work, pork or crab rice would be filled into the dumplings before being tossed into the boiling water. Wild vegetables and prickly ash leaves would be added into the broth to add fragrance. It was a great treat for the helpers. Mumu, a respectful term for indigenous elderly ladies, from Jianhe Community, recollected how she misses the sour fermented taste. The first bite is sour yet the sweetness comes later as you chew on. Mumu will share this dish with everybody at the Fermentation Feast. Don’t miss out this opportunity.
