2025 Slow Food Delegation Announced: Who Will Represent Taitung in Japan and the Philippines?

Last year, seven culinary representatives brought Taitung’s millet, siraw, and glutinous rice wine to Italy. This year, the journey continues—moving from the terroirs and traditions of Europe to the interconnected islands of Asia. Following a month-long review and interview process, the 2025 Taitung Slow Food delegation has been finalized.Eight teams will represent Taitung at two major international events: - Terra Madre Japan 2025 - Terra Madre Asia & Pacific 2025 in the Philippines These delegates will bring Taitung’s Slow Food flavors, cultural memory, and traditional wisdom to the global stage.
Terra Madre Japan 2025
Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture | November 1–2, 2025 Truly Wine: From nurturing the koji mold to brewing the glutinous rice wine, this Amis winemaker shares the full arc of traditional fermentation—from foraging to final pour. Hezuo Friendly Crops: Combines Taitung-grown rice with traditional Amis preservation techniques, promoting cultural exchange through food. Aiyu Passion: Showcases Taiwan’s native aiyu fig, a unique ingredient found in Taitung. Meet Marlin: Practitioners of sustainable fishing, promoting Slow Fish and ocean-friendly culinary practices.
The four teams will depart on October 29, bringing the spirit and flavors of Taitung to Terra Madre Japan 2025 in Minamata City, Kumamoto.
Terra Madre Asia & Pacific 2025
Bacolod City, Philippines | November 19–23, 2025 Kaiana Workshop, Kanding Tribal Community: Focuses on Bunun traditional food and seed-saving practices, preserving dialogue between people and land. Austronesian Café Tribal Kitchen: Combines foraged wild greens with Indigenous cooking methods to highlight traditional wisdom. Love EAT: Draws from Paiwan ingredients, blending tradition with modern culinary expression. Gong Nong Gong Shi (Natural Life and Food): Connects farmers and chefs in a “mud-to-mouth” Slow Food movement of comminity living, farming and eating."
The four teams will depart on November 18 to represent Taitung on the world stage at Terra Madre Asia & Pacific 2025 in Bacolod, Philippines.
