"Hian-Ban" is a new brand established in 2020 in Taitung. Composed of a group of passionate partners, they started from field investigations and have an awareness of ecological conservation and cultural preservation. Through "food," they hope to introduce Taitung and Green Island's agriculture, fishing industry, tribal culture, and people. "Hian-Ban" means eating locally and seasonally, as well as embodying Taitung's slow food and slow living attitude.

Sweet Potato Congee; Seaweed Egg Pancake
Island ingredients are not easy to come by, so the residents of Green Island use their wisdom to preserve fresh ingredients by sun-drying them when the weather is good. Sweet potato congee is a traditional breakfast on Green Island, made by boiling sun-dried purple and red sweet potatoes with Taitung rice. It is served with Green Island salted tofu, fish sauce peanuts, salted fish, and more, bringing the taste of sunshine to your mouth. Seaweed egg pancake is a fusion of the traditional egg pancake that young people love for breakfast with the jelly-like seaweed collected from the intertidal zone on Green Island. It is served with spicy sauce made from Green Island bonito, adding just the right amount of flavor.
